http://itsmynature.net *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Welcome to It's My Nature's online email newsletter. Our goal is to provide you with interesting, useful information about herbs and aromatherapy. We will share ways to relieve the stress of daily life and bring a little natural comfort into your life and the lives of those you love. A brand new year stands before us. Have you made any New Year's Resolutions? Even just one would be a good start! Resolve to be open to the great possibilities of your life. Surrender expectations of the future and live the best you can moment to moment, day by day. Your life speaks to you in every moment, every feeling, every encounter. So listen and make responsible choices and be open to what your life is trying to tell you! We are right in the middle of the cold and flu season. The very best treatment is preventing the colds and flu before they start. You can pump up your immune system with Astragalus, an immune system tonic, or strengthener. Take it for a month, then take two weeks off, and so on during the cold and flu season. If this isn't enough and you start to feel the telltale signs of a scratchy throat, stuffed nose, etc., start taking Echinacea capsules or a tincture immediately. I have also found from personal experience that taking Elderberry extract at the very beginning is also an effective measure to head off sickness. If, despite all precautions, colds and flu prevail, natural remedies can help to ease the symptoms and speed recovery. A recent study confirms that eating Chicken Soup effectively reduces inflammation and other symptoms of the common cold. Peppermint and spearmint are particularly effective in treating headaches associated with colds and flu, as well as for settling the stomach. Peppermint is cool and pungent in nature, while spearmint is warm, pungent, and sweet. Peppermint oil may be applied externally, diluted in a carrier oil, to soothe aching muscles and cool fever. Either herb may also be inhaled as an essential oil or consumed as an herbal tea. Lemon, oranges, grapefruit, onions, radishes, garlic and honey are all useful in treating colds and flu. Take time this winter to learn the properties of these foods, then experiment to create soups and teas that will soothe your symptoms. Above all, learn to listen to your body as it tells you what it needs. If you listen, it will speak.

It is widely used in baths, massage and inhalation during the cold and flu season. It is also excellent for treating fevers, bronchitis, sinus and allergy problems. Eucalyptus aids the whole breathing process. It can help regenerate lung tissue and functions as a good expectorant and cough suppressant. It is a cooling agent and it can help stimulate thinking and increase concentration under emotional pressure. Eucalyptus Essential Oil Properties Include: analgesic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, balsamic, decongestant, expectorant, deodorant, diuretic and stimulant. Dried --- Herb Usage To Make a Simple Infusion - Steep 1/4 cup herb for 15 to 20 minutes in a quart of water that has just been boiled. Let cool. Never boil herbs because they will lose their volatile oils and much of their healing qualities. An infusuion will keep for up to 7 days, so it is easy to make up ahead of time. Pure Essential Oil Usage Try our Cold Remedy Blend, available in Massage Oil, Pure
Essential Oil Blend and 2 sizes of Spritzers. This blend of Eucalyptus,
Lavender and Tea Tree is great for eliminating viruses and germs.

Did December totally stress you out? Maybe it's time to make a few New Year's resolutions to bring you more balance and a healthier way of life. Many folks say they just don't have time to exercise, eat right and take time out for themselves. It can be challenging to find little moments of time to do these things. But look at it this way, if you don't take time Now to do the things that will keep you fit and healthy, you may be forced to take the time Later to be sick. It seems it is a lot easier to do some preventive maintainence now rather than waiting and needing a complete overhaul! We only get one body and it will take care of us if we take care of it. Here are a few ideas to remember when stress hits: Breathe. This is the single most important thing you can do when you start getting stressed. Stress causes shallow breathing, which limits oxygenation of blood. To keep blood oxygen levels up, the heart strains to pump extra blood. But when you breath deeply, your blood becomes well oxygenated without straining your heart, and your mind and body relax. Walk. Walking deepens breathing, lowers blood pressure, and stretches the arms and legs. In addition, going from one place to another sometimes provides prospective. Listen to soothing music. Studies have shown that music relieves the stress experienced by surgeons while they are operating as well as the stress of those people whose daily lives include dealing with heart disease. Relaxation tapes work. These tapes combine music and verbal suggestions that enhance relaxation, either with instructions to relax certain muscles or with descriptions of calming scenes. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fear less, hope more; Swedish Proverb *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Gunpowder Green Tea- If your New Year's Resolution
has anything to do with improving your health, adding Green tea
to your life would be a good place to start. It's a great
tasting tea, full of polyphenols, flavonoids and other antioxidants.
Because of it's vast health benefits, green tea is considered
a health food. Studies show the tea helps stop tissue
damage that may lead to cancer, and it also can act to prevent
cells from mutating. Flavonoids inhibit blood platelets from
clumping, preventing the dangerous clots that lead to most heart
attacks and strokes. Green tea is also a good source of fluoride
to prevent tooth decay and the astringent effects of the tea
help cure canker sores in the mouth. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ You are receiving this newsletter because you have: Thank you for your interest in Aromatherapy and It's My Nature's Comfort Products.
